John Hartford was a beloved icon in bluegrass and country music. When his estate compiled an annotated book of his personal illustrations, notes, and more than 150 unreleased songs, I was tasked to create a memorable promotion to celebrate the release. Drawing from some memorable titles of his fiddle tunes and the legendary style of show posters by Hatch Show Print, I designed a set of collectible postcards to distribute at music festivals and conventions.

In conjunction with The Mammoth Collection book release, John Hartford’s estate also re-released two of his classic albums—Slumberin’ on the Cumberland and Into the Mystery Below—as a two-disc collection. Our design solution utilizes strong color and bold typographic elements to accentuate both original covers.
